RPIE Filing Due June 1st, 2022

The Department of Finance just sent us an email reminding us that RPIE filing must be completed as of June 1, 2022. That means any property for which an RPIE is required must have same completed by June 1 or before. We recommend this filing be completed a few days prior to the actual deadline so if there are website issues (excessive internet usage/traffic, technology issues, connectivity issues, etc.) you won’t be under pressure to make sure these filings are completed. Many of you have multiple buildings for which RPIE filings are required, so please remind your CPA or property manager(s) that the filings need to be completed ahead of the deadline.

Please review the below-quoted email from DOF and follow up with them directly should you have any questions, concerns or issues.

If you have questions reach out directly to them at www.nyc.gov/rpie as indicated below.

This is a reminder that the deadline to file your 2021 Real Property Income and Expense (RPIE-2021) statement and Storefront Registration (SFR-2021) is June 1, 2022. If you have already filed, you have until June 1 to make changes to your statements.

File your RPIE statement and Storefront Registration by June 1 at www.nyc.gov/rpie.

You must file an RPIE statement or a claim of exclusion by June 1 if you own an income-producing property that has an actual assessed value of more than $40,000. If you fail to file an RPIE statement, you may be charged a penalty.

If you own a property with a ground-floor or second-floor commercial storefront, you must provide information about these spaces by completing your Storefront Registration by June 1.

You may have the option of filing a short-form RPIE statement if your property has an actual assessed value of $250,000 or less and is not a hotel, adult care or nursing home facility, gas station, car wash, oil change facility, self-storage facility, theatre, or concert hall.

RPIE filers with a tentative actual assessed value of $750,000 or greater will be required to file rent roll information for the tax year during which filing of the income and expense statement is required.
